This extensive restoration project is to enhance the current spaces within the Old Quadrangle to be utilised as ceremonial spaces, events, teaching and academics spaces. The University developed the Old Quadrangle to be central focus space as the University’s key cultural, civic, engagement and ceremonial heart of the University.
It will see the historic north and areas of east wings largely and carefully returned to their original design, and with the addition of flexible spaces, the University’s vision of a welcoming and vibrant campus community will be achieved.
To meet this objective, a master plan was undertaken by Lovell Chen in Oct 2015. The master plan presented the plan and the proposed spaces.
As Engineering Services Consultants our role is to participate in the project collaborating with the University actively, Lovell Chen and the Consultant team to achieve the project objectives.
The building will exemplify the highest standard of sustainability employing the principles of passive house in its design. The project team is set to push the boundaries and explore opportunities to achieve the highest level within funding constraints.
The Old Quad is included on the Victorian Heritage Register and recently achieved practical completion in March 2019.
