Ravenswood School for Girls – Mabel Fidler Resources Hub Building

Home/Education/Ravenswood School for Girls – Mabel Fidler Resources Hub Building

Project Description

Location: Gordon, New South Wales
Client: Ravenswood School for Girls
Architect: BVN Architecture
Size: 6,500 sqm

The new 6,500m² Mabel Fidler Resources Hub Building will comprise a junior and secondary resource centre, a number of spaces for study, meetings and relaxation, a careers office, café and commercial kitchen, suite of new classrooms and seminar spaces, reception and designated staff areas.

Sustainable initiatives include rain water reuse, mixed mode air conditioning and the strategic placement of LCD screens detailing Building Energy Usage to educate students on impact of their behaviour on emissions.

One of the key challenges Umow Lai had to overcome was the fact that an internally ventilated polycarbonate façade has been used, which is see through, meaning that no services could be reticulated behind it. This type of façade is the first of its type in New South Wales.

Umow Lai is provided Mechanical, Electrical, ICT, Fire Protection and Hydraulic services for the project which was recently opened officially by the Governor of NSW, Professor Marie Bashir.
