Umow Lai is delighted to have been associated with the award winning RACV “One Spa” project at their Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.

The project won the best Tourism & Hospitality Facility over $5million category, for the Gold Coast region, Master Builders Queensland Awards that were announced on 2 August.

Opened in early 2014, the luxury $7 million day spa is located beside the lake adjacent to the existing resort and comprises an elevated platform with a distinctive tensile membrane roof.

“We were involved from the outset in the design and construction management of the spa,” noted Aleksandra Daszkowska, a Senior Mechanical Engineer with Umow Lai who headed the firm’s project team.,

“And as we provided a full range of engineering service, including audio visual, this award is a really fantastic outcome for all our hard work.”

Conceived to offer its guests the highest quality of luxury experience, the internal spaces of the building offer custom designed specialist wet and dry treatment rooms including a multi-jet two person Swiss shower, therapeutic ‘Geisha’ tub room, in ground outdoor spa area, custom built aromatherapy ‘Lusar’ steam shower and bespoke ‘dry treatment’ rooms, together with hair salon, makeup and manicure rooms.

Engineers in Umow Lai’s Melbourne and Brisbane offices worked closely with the spa project partners, Peddle Thorp architects, Kane Constructions and the RACV.
