Deakin University – 1000 Seat Auditorium

Home/Education/Deakin University – 1000 Seat Auditorium

Project Description

Location: Burwood, Victoria
Client: Deakin University
Architect: Woods Bagot
Value: $20 million

This new venue will be one of the largest (and most flexible) of its kind in Australia.

In addition to catering for teaching activities, this venue will be used to host other events including graduation ceremonies, and will be offered for hire by external organisations. Support areas to the main auditorium include eight Seminar Rooms and a large public Foyer/Exhibition Space.

Umow Lai’s ICT Division is responsible for the design of Audio Visual, Communications and Security Services. With the ability for the auditorium to be divided into any combination of three (3) separately usable areas, the demand for flexibility and simplicity in the reconfiguration of space is paramount.

In addition to the large image display and high-fidelity sound systems custom designed for this auditorium, a Digital Signage System will be employed in the Foyer for directory services, way-finding, advertising and general announcements.
