2016 Master Builder Association – State Finalist – ‘Best Sustainable Practice’

The $135 million, 20-storey development is a new state-of-the-art glass office tower was developed in conjunction with CBUS and Charter Hall. The project also included the refurbishment of the heritage listed Mayfair Building for boutique office space. The impressive space is now primarily occupied by BHP Billiton and is being utilised as their Global Headquarters.

Umow Lai engineers were responsible for the concept design of the Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulics, Communication, Vertical Transportation and Fire Services for this project.

The development was modelled by our specialist Sustainability Group and has achieved a 6 Star Green Star – Office Design v2 Certified Rating. The project encompasses innovative services design solutions to achieve low greenhouse gas emissions and low water consumption.

To enable regulatory approval of the unique building features, our specialist Fire Engineers worked with the Building Surveyor, undertaking fire analysis to develop cost effective alternative solutions to comply with the performance provisions of the BCA.
