Umow Lai would like to welcome one of our newest team members, Craig Pratt. Craig has recently joined the Brisbane office as a Senior ICT Consultant and we are proud to have him on the team.

We asked Craig a few questions to help you get acquainted.

What has been your favourite project you have worked on throughout your career so far?
The Christmas Island Immigration and Detention Centre – an interesting project living in a large busy construction camp in a unique location.

Why did you decide to join Umow Lai?
To be part of a close knit high performing team in a mid-sized Australian owned firm, I’ve also previously worked with a couple of team members.

Why did you choose to specialise in ICT and Security?
Electronics and particularly electronic security has always fascinated me, I’m also passionate about seeing a project come together to completion.

If you weren’t an engineer, what profession do you think you would you be in?
Somewhere in the building industry, perhaps in some sort of a hands on supervisory role.

What is your favourite part about being a consultant?
Being able to take a project idea from start to finish and implement cutting edge technology to a finished project.

Tell us a little bit more about yourself.
I have been happily married for 21 years and have 3 busy teenage children and 2 of these are twins. I currently live on acreage to help house all of my toys as I love the outdoors. I have a boat, a caravan and a quad bike and I’m sure I will add more to this collection in future – ha! Some of my hobbies include fishing and camping – anything outdoors-y really. My son Josh is on the Australian 21 rifle team and we often shoot long range full bore target rifles together. We are currently at the top of the sport shooting in national competitions – this consumes most of my spare time but it’s great being in a sport where I get to spend a lot of time with my son.
